Botswana to host international 3x3 basketball tournament
GABORONE, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Botswana will host the International Basketball Foundation (IBF) 3x3 junior tournament from December 1-3, according to the Botswana Basketball Association (BBA).
Those to compete in the inaugural under-18 tournament, dubbed as "IBF 3x3 Young Lions Cup", are the host Botswana, Namibia, Comoros, Djibouti, Lesotho, Malawi, Seychelles, Mauritius, Swaziland, Burundi and South Africa.
"The International Basketball Foundation's mission is to use the power of basketball as a catalyst to initiate positive change and help build stronger communities," IBF said in a statement.
With this in mind, all the players present will take part in a leadership workshop, whose aim is to inspire youth leaders by providing them with the skills and support needed to use basketball as a tool for development in their own communities
The IBF, founded in 2008 by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), is the social, educational and legacy arm of FIBA that addresses the role of sports and particularly basketball in society, preserving and promoting basketball's values and its cultural heritage.
