Natural and cultural treasures
Located in Zhonghe Town, Danzhou City, Dongpo Academy is a historic treasure. It was built to memorialize Su Dongpo (also known as Su Shi), a great writer and poet of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). In the academy, the flowers are in full bloom, and many ancient manuscripts and cultural relics are on display in the hall, providing a record of Su Dongpo's storied academic career.

Located on Danzhou's Yunzhi Road, the Hainan Tropical Botanical Garden holds the "kingdom of tropical plants in China". In addition to rare plants such as the Royal Water-lily (Victoria amazonica) and Upas Tree (Antiaris toxicaria), the garden features more than 2,600 species of tropical plants from more than 40 countries and regions, including many rare and endangered plants such as the Micholitz's Cycad (Cycas micholitzii) and Hopea Hainanensis, making the park a treasure chest of tropical plants. There are many different areas featuring different types of plants, including water plants, spice plants, medicinal plants, and more.

Near the Tropical Botanical Garden stands the symbol of Danzhou - the Danyang Building. The structure, which is located on Ma'an Peak, has been hailed as 'the symbol of Danzhou culture'.
The Danyang Building is a classic Song-style building with a unique vertical layout. Do you want to learn more about the history of Danzhou? This is the place to go. Climb to the top to be rewarded with sweeping views of the beauty of Danzhou.

Shopping, entertainment, and relaxation
Located on East Fubo Road, Nada Town, Xiari (Summer) Square is one of the most popular shopping hotspots in Danzhou. The mall has six floors where visitors can go shopping, see movies, find children's amusement, keep fit, and more. There's something to keep everyone entertained and happy here!

In the western part of the city, you will find Jinghu Park, which is filled with lakes, sculptures, lotus ponds, pavilions, and tall, shady trees. There's also a palm tree covered island, with 2,000 meters of sandy beach, the only beach area within Danzhou city limits. What a wonderful place to relax!

Streets made for strolling
Down a small alley along Xingyuan Road is Danzhou's largest market - Hongqi Market, where you can find the freshest tropical fruits, vegetables, and fresh meat, as well as local Danzhou specialties made to order, such as steamed buns, pork sausage buns, soups, and more. Make sure to come hungry!
Looking for a little late night snack? You'll definitely want to make your way to the Na'nen Street Night Market after 7 p.m., which is when it starts hopping. Grab a bowl of Danzhou Rice Noodles and pick from beef jerky, peanuts, coriander, or the other available toppings and get your chopsticks moving!

There's more to Danzhou cuisine than just noodles though. Pick up a few skewers of barbecue, some clay pot chicken, and a few crab claws to top it all off. Life doesn't get better than a happy belly.
