CBA Roundup: Aolong ends Guangdong's winning streak
BEIJING, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Zaid Abbass and Steven Marbury combined for 50 points to help Aolong edged Guangdong 103-100 and end the opponent's three-game winning streak in the 14th round of the 2017-2018 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Saturday night.
With the help of two international players especially Abbass who grabbed 14 rebounds at the first quarter, Aolong opened the game with 27-20. The visitors strengthened its defend and come back for 45-42, however Marbury's three-pointers made Aolong established the advantage again.
The 40-year-old Steven Marbury, who contributed 21 points and 8 rebounds, took over the duel at the beginning second half. His amazing three-pointers at the fourth quarter made an eight-point lead for Aolong and sealed its victory with 103-100.
Substitute Andrew Nicholson made a big double-double for 38 points and 15 rebounds but unable to help Guangdong keep on its winning streak.
Defended champion Xinjiang edged Tianjin 110-105 in spite of Andray Blatche' absence. The sole international player Darius Adams contributed a game-high 42 points and 10 rebounds,
Tianjin's Eugene Jeter and Eli Holman combined for 58 points, but the rest eight players only got 47 points.
In other matches played on Saturday, Bayi swallowed a fourteen-game losing streak after losing to Qingdao 83-107. Shanxi beat Sichuan 110-101 at home with four players scored double-digit.
