CBA Roundup: Liaoning beat defending champions Xinjiang 110-108
BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Leading by 30 points in the first half, Liaoning stayed strong to have a tough 110-108 road victory over Xinjiang in Wednesday's second round of the CBA.
Liaoning had a dream start of 20-5. Shirelijan Muxtar fired two three-pointers to help the home team cut the deficit down to 28-15 at the end of the first quarter.
Liaoning extended their lead after the break, leading with 56-26 after Guo Ailun's consecutive three-pointers and Li Xiaoxu's slamdunk. Lester Hudson kept a 9-9 shooting record to help the guest team finish the first half 63-42.
The defending champions began to revive after the interval, storming 23-7 and 18-4, trimmed the gap to only one point. 37-year-old former NBA player Luis Scola had phenomenon performance in Shanxi's 140-121 victory over Qingdao, contributing 45 points, 15 rebounds and seven assists for Shanxi.
