Agent indicates Celtics forward Hayward is likely to miss season

WASHINGTON, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward suffered a severe injury in the NBA season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers and his agent said that the All Star player is likely to miss the season on Thursday.

After what was deemed as a successful surgery on Wednesday, Hayward's agent Mark Bartelstein confirmed that it's impossible for the player to come back this season.

"We expect him to make a full recovery and return to his All-Star form," Bartelstein added.

After playing his first seven years with the Utah Jazz, Hayward signed a four-year, 128 million US dollars contract this offseason to come to Boston, part of a near-complete roster overhaul for the team that finished first in the Eastern Conference last season.

His injury dealt a severe blow to Boston's ambitions of locking horn with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the new season.
