Celtics' Hayward to be out the remainder of the season
WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- It is being reported that the Boston Celtics' Gordon Hayward is going to miss the rest of the 2017-2018 season after undergoing surgery for ankle dislocation and a tibia fracture.
Hayward suffered the horrifying injury less than six minutes into his Celtics debut Tuesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena.
Earlier Wednesday, Hayward posted a video to Boston fans in his hospital bed telling them he'll be fine.
"What's up everybody? I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has kept me in their thoughts and prayers. I'm going to be all right. It's hurting me that I can't be there for the home opener," he said at the time.
Hayward, 27, has signed a four-year, $128 million maximum contract with the Celtics.
