Rockets spoil defending champions' celebratory night

WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- The Houston Rockets spoiled the Golden State Warrios' championship ring ceremony night by edging them 122-121 on Wednesday.

The Warriors led for most of the game before Houston being one up with 10.6 seconds left as they outscored Golden State 34-20 in the fourth quarter. The defending champion still had a chance as Durant drained a midrange jumper after Stephen Curry had missed. But the officials reviewed the play and said Durant's shot was after the buzzer.

James Harden had 27 points, six rebounds and 10 assists for the Rockets. Chris Paul had four points on 2-for-9 shooting in his Rockets debut. Eric Gordon added 24.

Stephen Curry scored 22 points and Durant had 20 points. Klay Thompson added 16. Nick Young came off the bench to hit six 3-pointers and scored 23 points in his Warriors debut.
