LA Dodgers lose game 2 of World Series at home
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers lost game two of the World Series on Wednesday night in front of about 60,000 fans, giving the Houston Astros an opportunity to win their first championship in history.
The game, which lasted for more than 4 hours, became crazy and chaotic in the final four innings of the 11-inning roller coaster. During this period, the two teams hit six home runs and scored a total of 9 points. The Astros finally rode the game to a series-tying victory with a final score of 7-6.
The eight home runs in a single game sets a new record for the 114-year-old World Series.
The Astros faced a similarly bad situation as they did in last game on Tuesday, trailing 1-3 trail after the Dodgers launched a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth, but the scenario changed dramatically from the seventh round, as they scored six times and locked the victory in Dodger Stadium.
The Astros will have a home-field advantage going into next three games, which will be played at Minute Maid Park where the Astros are 6-0 this postseason and outscored their opponents in 2 series games.
Disappointed fans of the Dodgers blamed the failure on team manager Dave Roberts who pulled starting pitcher Rich Hill after four innings. Roberts' strong bullpen lost energy tonight after creating a postseason record for not allowing a run in 28 consecutive innings.
The teams are tied at 1-1 in the series, and Game 3 will be held on Friday.
The World Series is the annual championship series of Major League Baseball in North America, contested since 1903 between the American League champion and the National League champion.
