Li Yueru's 33 points lead Gongdong to semifinals

TIANJIN, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Chinese basketball budding star Li Yueru scored 33 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to pace Gongdong for an 87-72 victory over Jiangsu 87-72, making the semifinals of women's U18 basketball at 13th Chinese National Games on Saturday.

Li, 18, a member of the Chinese women's basketball team, was honored the best center in the 2017 FIBA Women's Asia Cup.

The 2.01-meter and 103-kilogram center scored only 13 points in the first half, because "I hoped the perimeter players to play more important role in the game, but they didn't do that, so I tried more in the second half."

"Gongdong always made the tactics focusing on me, which I felt lacked diversification," Li added.

Elsewhere, Henan, Shandong and Sichuan also entered the semifinals of the women's U18 basketball at the National Games.
