Lebanon, South Korea advance to FIBA Asia Cup quarters

BEIRUT, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon beat Chinese Taipei 90-77 on Monday in the second round of the FIBA Asia Cup to advance to a quarter-final clash with Iran, while South Korea will face the Philippines after outlasting Japan 81-68.

Fadi el-Khatib scored 30 points to lead Lebanon to its victory over Chinese Taipei whose key player Yi H Liu bagged 17 points.

South Korea for its part beat Japan in the game that was played earlier with Oh Sekeun scoring 16 points and adding four rebounds and five assists, backed up by 16 points and nine assists from Kim Sunhyung.

Japan's Ira Brown led four players into double figures with 14 points, five rebounds, five steals and three blocks.
