Blake Griffin out with big toe injury
WASHINGTON, April 22 (Xinhua) -- The Los Angeles Clippers announced on Saturday that forward Blake Griffin will miss the remainder of the playoffs due to a right toe injury suffered in first-round Game 3 win over the Utah Jazz.
Griffin suffered the injury on a drive to the basket late in the first half of the Clippers' 111-106 victory on Friday night and he did not return to the game. He had 11 points, six rebounds and two assists in 18 minutes.
"It's tough. You just hate for dumb stuff like this to happen when you know how hard somebody works. For somebody who's as dedicated to the process and the training and the working out and all that stuff like that, for something to happen, you hate to see it," Clippers star point guard Chirs Paul said.
Griffin, 28, was the Clippers' leading scorer and second-leading rebounder this season, averaging 21.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
