AUB ranks 1st among region universities
BEIRUT, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- The American University of Beirut (AUB) ranks the first in the QS Arab Region University Ranking of 2017/2018, local media reported.
AUB said in a statement that this is the first time that AUB has held the top position since the QS Arab Region University Ranking was first published in 2014, adding that the "remarkable accomplishment" is achieved through a collective effort, the Daily Star reported.
In the most recent ranking, AUB not only knocked Saudi Arabia's King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals off the top spot, also improved on seven of the nine indicators used in the ranking's metric, as it secured the other two.
The university improved on Academic Reputation, Faculty Student Ratio, Staff with Ph.D., Papers per Faculty, International Faculty, International Students and Citations per Paper, while maintaining its position regarding Web Impact and Employer Reputation, and the Employer Reputation score remains the strongest in the region.
Khouri also added that the AUB is aiming at being placing on the list of the 100 finest universities in the world.
The QS list covered 100 universities in the Arab Region.
