Indonesian men shuttlers eye victory in Badminton Asia Team Championships 2018
JAKARTA, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Men's badminton players of Indonesia have set a gold medal target in Badminton Asia Team championships in Malaysia next month, a senior official said on Tuesday.
Senior official at the country's national badminton association Susy Susanti disclosed in a statement that the target is realistic as the Indonesian men players placed top position in the previous badminton team championships in Asia after they defeated Japan with 3-2 score.
The Badminton Asia Team Championships 2018 is scheduled to be played in Alor Setar, Malaysia from February 6 to 11.
"Our target is that men's team can go into final and become champion again as it was two years ago," she said.
For women's team, the official expected there will be improvement on the athletes' performance.
"For women team, although it is hard, at least there will be progress from the previous tournament," she said.
Indonesia's women team only entered into a quarter-final in the Badminton Asia Team Championships in 2016.
