Badminton world junior championship in Indonesia attracts 488 shuttlers
JAKARTA, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- A total of 488 shuttlers from 64 countries and regions will vie in the badminton world junior championship in Indonesia next month, the Indonesian badminton association said here on Thursday.
The championship will be held at Among Projo sport stadium in Yogyakarta province from Oct. 9 to 22, secretary general of Indonesian badminton association Achmad Budiharto said.
The championship will stage two categories of sports, mix-group and individual, he said.
"As the host nation, we hope this international sport event will motivate our young players to show their best," Budiharto told a press conference at Kempinski Hotel.
Indonesia will send three pairs each for the men's doubles and women's doubles, and four shuttlers each for the men's singles and the women's singles as well as the mixed doubles, according to the association.
Indonesia set a 2-gold target at the championship.
