Indonesia eyes one gold medal in All England tournament
JAKARTA, March 3 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian badminton association has targeted one gold medal at mix doubles in All England championship this year, and expected a women's singles player to be the world's top 20, senior official of the association disclosed here on Friday.
Indonesia would send 35 shuttlers to the tournament scheduled to be held from March 7 to 12 in Birmingham of England, said Susy Susanti, head of sport development of the association.
Susy said that the association also expected other events to achieve improvement.
"We have targeted to defend the title obtained last year. We want all events to achieve improvement, so it is not only one title to be secured," she said.
For men's singles and women's singles, Susy expected Indonesian shuttlers to be able to go to quarter-finals.
"The performances of players of men's and women's singles remain unstable," she added.
"Currently, the highest rank at women's singles is held by Fitriani who posts the 29th position," she added.
