Vietnam sees fewer food poisoning deaths in January-June per
HO CHI MINH CITY, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam faced 53 cases of serious food poisoning which hit 2,187 people, including 4 fatalities, in the first half of this year, the Ministry of Health said Friday.
The country experienced 59 food poisoning cases which affected 2,206 people, including 13 deaths, in the same period last year.
In the January-June period, Vietnam detected over 16,300 cases of foot-and-mouth disease infections, and 39,300 dengue-fever patients, including 12 fatalities, and 2 Zika cases in the central province of Khanh Hoa and Ho Chi Minh City.
The country currently has 228,200 people with HIV, of whom 85,800 have become AIDS patients. To date, 87,600 people have died of AIDS-related illnesses.
