Nepal's national flag carrier starts online ticketing
KATHMANDU, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Although international travels look unthinkable without online ticketing service nowadays, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), the national flag carrier of Nepal, launched online ticketing on Sunday.
The NAC offered the online ticketing system for international flights only for the time being.
"Those willing to the travel on NAC planes can book tickets by using their foreign exchange-based international travel cards from anywhere in the world," the NAC said in a statement.
However, the state-owned airline said it was working on adjusting the system in domestic currency also.
Spokesperson of the NAC Rabindra Shrestha told Xinhua that the online booking system would help reduce the cost of tickets for travelers as the commission to be paid to the third parties for ticketing service will be reduced. Currently, the airline has been outsourcing the ticketing jobs to travel agencies.
"It will be beneficial for foreign tourists visiting Nepal," he said.
The NAC has been conducting international flights from Kathmandu to New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Doha, China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur.
