Indonesia records 13 pct foreign tourist visits growth in Au

JAKARTA, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- The number of foreign tourists who visited Indonesia in August has risen to 1.03 million, 13.19 percent up compared to the same period last year, a senior official said on Monday.

Total number of foreign tourist arrivals has increased to 7.36 million in August, 8.39 percent up compared to the same period last year, Head of Indonesia's Central Statistics Bureau (BPS) Suharyanto told a press conference in his office.

According to Suharyanto, tourists from China, Australia and Singapore contributed the most to the nation's increasing foreign tourist visit figures throughout August this year.

Indonesia expects 12 million foreign tourist visits this year.
