China's Twenty-Four Solar Terms inscribed on UN intangible cultural heritage list

ADDIS ABABA, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Twenty-Four Solar Terms, knowledge of time and practices developed in China through observation of the sun's annual motion, has been inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a UN committee said Wednesday.

The inscription was approved Wednesday during the 11th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage under the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), held from Monday to Friday in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa.
