Buckingham Palace looking to fill role of "world-class" trainee butler
BEIJING, April 17 (Xinhua) -- A hot job posting has appeared on the Buckingham Palace website -- the Royals are looking to hire a new "world-class" trainee butler with an annual salary of 18,850 pounds (23,620 U.S. dollars).
Other benefits include a 33-day paid holiday and access to a 15 percent pension scheme. You even have a chance to live at Buckingham Palace while serving, with an "adjusted" salary, it added.
It also said that a good standard of English and the ability "to communicate with all kinds of people" are required, and the successful candidate will apparently receive the best butler training and will get an "accredited butlering qualification" in the end.
"You'll take care of guests from welcome to goodbye. And you'll learn how to deliver functions of all scales, from official lunches to state banquets. The learning curve will be steep, but we'll be with you every step of the way ... and you'll grow your skills far beyond your immediate role," the advertisement said.
Previous experience in the hospitality industry "would be an advantage but is not essential. We're more interested in your proactive approach and ability to tackle new challenges," said the statement.
Applications from throughout the European Union (EU) will be accepted until the end of April.
