Spring Nordic interior design exhibition highlights "Nordic Space"
STOCKHOLM, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- 2017 Spring Nordic interior design exhibition, or Formex, has highlighted "Nordic Space" as theme, when it is in full swing in Stockholm.
The fair started on Wednesday, and will last for four days.
This spring's trend theme, Nordic Space -- endlessness and freethinking, features an open mind free of anxiety. It includes rather than excludes and presents a stage for expressionism.
"We bring in the nature of Sweden to this entrance hall. In the morning in Sweden, we can see the fog all over, you know, in the nature, so we are trying to make it happen here," explained Mikael Astrand, designer of the Nordic Space.
"We have been working with the four elements: the sky, the earth, the wind and the water. With the reflection of mirrors, we try to get some kaleidoscope effects."said Astrand.
Formex, the largest meeting place for Nordic interior design, started in 1960 and is held twice a year. This year more than 800 exhibitors showcase products within interior design, fashion and accessories.
"We see major interior design companies in many different exciting collaborations with famous design brands, but also with smaller craft studios, with the aim of finding a personal touch for their range of products," said Christina Olsson, event manager at Formex.
"The desire for a unique expression allows considerable room for creativity but places high demands on materials, patterns and techniques in order to be able to manufacture the product," added Olsson.
